Examples of recent Community Arts events Jeanette has been involved with:
September 2007, employed as Community Arts Coordinator, based in Herefordshire
February 2007 awarded a grant from Cadbury's for a community project called Turning a New Page piloted at the Stonebow Unit (part of Hereford Hospital). The result of working with patients will be exhibited as part of Herefordshire Art Week 2007 at All Saints Church, Hereford.
A further workshop and exhibition was held during the Festival, open to the public, in Ice Bytes Café. Funded by Lloyds TSB.
2006 Where Be The Dragons, (organised by Herefordshire Council) working with schools in and around Mordiford as part of a celebration of the Mordiford Dragon. The art pieces (bird boxes made in the 'Widemarsh Workshop') were designed to permanently stay on the trail in Mordiford Woods. The celebration brought together storytelling, kite-making, dance, and music
2006 chosen as a practicing artist working in mixed media, and interviewed for a film documentary, filmed in Jeanette's studio. The film was commissioned and made by Edexcel to inform and encourage students to consider GCSE in Applied Art and Design. The DVD is available for schools.
2005 Jeanette helped set up a new business called Ledbury Artplace (with Angie Hughes her friend and business partner, who now runs the company) to provide art and craft workshop's in this location. The business has proved to be very popular and the workshops are well attended. They were supported and advised by Creative Industries.
In 2004 awarded a grant from the Arts Council for a community project called Art Cases. Working with the writer guy malkerson, a sound/recording engineer, musicians and six actors. Art Cases was a successful interactive travelling exhibition that visited four Herefordshire's museums; it was also taken into a number of schools and colleges across the region.
In 2003 one of the founding members of a local voluntary community based group/gallery called Artistree. Jeanette was The Secretary on the steering committee for three years, and wrote the Proposal (for Herefordshire Council) and the Constitution for the group (there were 40 artists and craftspeople in Artistree). I was also an exhibiting artist.
